During pregnancy women may also contract a temporary diabetes known as gestation diabetes. Gestation diabetes continues throughout the pregnancy but not generally afterwards. Generally the glucose levels in the body will go back to normal after giving birth. However, there is a risk that the child may become diabetic at some stage. The difficulty with diabetes is that the symptons are often missed or are silent. This is why that it is important that you make having a part of your annual check up with your doctor.
